Cleaning out my studio I came across this rosette I crafted earlier this year to commemorate our wonderful family vacation to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico when the kids were little. I plan to shadow-box it (eventually!) I don’t have a photo tutorial to share, just inspiration, notes and a free printable.
If you’ve ever vacationed in beautiful Mexico you can probably appreciate the kitchy style of my project. For the rosette petals I used beautiful woven trim pulled from a vintage skirt, accented with red glitter ribbon. The beads are from a bracelet I had. I found the woven paper at Paper-Source, trimmed round with pinking shears and placed it atop red glitter cardstock. I printed and adhered to cardstock shot of the kids, and trimmed it into a centerpiece circle. The MEXICO sticker from Jolee’s.The ribbon tails are meant to resemble film strips. I designed the strips and digitally reduced and cropped my photos to 1″ x 1.5″ to fit within the frames and placed them within using Adobe Illustrator. With the free printable below, you can do the same with Photoshop and possibly other image editing software, or trimmed out by hand. Once the sheet was printed out, I made it shiny by laminating it with clear contact paper, burnishing well to eliminate the fogging effect, and trimmed out the strips individually.
