I can’t remember where I found this very old book. Being so frugal, I’m sure I didn’t pay more than $10 for it. It’s The Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott, Bart., (1869.) The distressed leather binding and marbled cover & page edges are so incredibly beautiful.
There’s a handwritten inscription inside dated 1872. So I’m referring to it simply as the 1870 book.
I scanned and prepped the images for your crafty projects, paper or digital. I thought it would be perfect for a Father’s Day project. Click on the images below for full size files.

I grabbed a vintage label from a past download, modified the colors and included it as well.
Let me know if you make something with the cover images, I would love to see it.

This is so fun! I have no idea what to do with it yet, but I’m thinking. Maybe I can create a kindle cover with it… that’d be fantastic. I’ll let you know what I make with it. I’m sure I’ll post it on my blog: http://vibrantgrace.com. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiul, Cathe! I have a similar ledger book with a marbleized wine colored cover. Now I have a blue one too!
I will finally get to meet you in person this fall! I signed up for the Creative Connection in September! This will be my first big “craft event”. To prepare, I’m going to be doing a complete blog makeover, new profile pics, step up my blog posts, and more stuff so I can take things to the next level. Can you tell I’m excited?
Oops, I was so excited I spelled “beautiful” wrong…..
This is so so so so adorable & I am going to see what I can do to make book covers for my scrapbooks so they all look the same and they match our new style! This should be perfect! thank you!
Hi Cathe!
I just love the typeface you used to sign your name, would you mind saying what typeface that is? It’s beautiful! Thank you! Awesome site.
love the feel of this one
Cathe, do you think this could be printed onto some sort of “pebbly” stock to give more dimension? I don’t have any such paper, but would love a recommendation!
(love these images, btw)

I make a calendar of the kids’ pictures every year as a holiday gift (and for myself too). I think I just found this year’s theme!
