Blog Your Gifts

Do you share your gifts? You know, gifts of humor, talent, intellegence, etc. If you’re reading this then there’s a pretty good chance that you do and the odds are pretty good that you’re passionate about it. I truly enjoy spending time on other blogs where authors share their parenting advice, beautiful experiences, not so beautiful experiences, travels, recipes, ideas and always enough daily inspiration to get my juices flowing. Blogging has become a very important part of my life and a wonderful outlet to share my gifts of creativity…globally!

But, do you ever mention the word blog to someone who’s never actually read one? Not everyone gets it, so I rarely bring blogging up in social settings. So, I was thinking, maybe it’s time I brought it up in a different way. A way to encourage others to start sharing their gifts if they have yet to find a way to do so.

I created a design that you can not only add to your next blog post to motivate and encourage, but that you can also have printed on a shirt, mug or sticker that could be seen by potential bloggers.

I’d never set up a Cafe Press shop before, but I thought this might be the perfect reason to. So, if you would like to acknowledge the fact that you blog and encourage others to share their unique gifts, pop over to my little shop and buy something. For myself, I’m going to order a tall coffee mug and a white tank for summer.

If you have ANY suggestions, would like to see the design in other colors or product styles, I would greatly appreciate the feedback!

For some reason, I rarely bring up my blog in real life, either. I don’t really know why.

Your shop is a great idea!

You have gotta be kidding me–you don’t talk about your blog?! I talk about my two blogs all the time, post links on my facebook pages, tweet links when I post new articles and more. My husband tells everyone about my blogs also–he’s so proud that I write ‘em. You’re right that many (but not all) people “get it” but I don’t let that bother me at all…gotta be me, and blogging is an important and fun part of my life so I share it–”get it” or not. :0)

The design for the mug is great–and a tank? Yes, that’d work, too; maybe white on black!

“blog your gifts” I love that!! congrats on the cafe press shop too!

  4. #4 - Jason and Tammy Sabourin says:

Great idea! And great shop, too. I love how you’ve made the logo gender-neutral, as I know there are quite a few male bloggers out there. Thanks for the gift ideas. (Putting the “big mug” on my wish list!)

Love, love, love your Cafe Press goods! One wish…the v-neck tee in black with white / ivory. (I’m not a super-skinny gal, so black is always a fave. :) Have a lovely week!

Around my close friends and family I’m ALWAYS saying “My blog friend . . .” They probably think I’m sad and lonely!

Oh, and my husband calls my ‘blog friends’ my imaginary friends!

Perhaps a mouse pad would be appropriate, or little note cards to include with swapping packages.

  7. #7 - My name is PJ. says:

What a great idea, Cathe! Why don’t you talk about your blog??! You should be handing out business cards with your blog address included to every person you meet! I just bought a 15 oz mug! :)

  8. #8 - Pattie Cordova says:

We should get that awesome image printed on a journal… I’m constantly writing stuff down so it would be nice to have it one a blog-specific journal

  9. #9 - Cathe Holden says:

Pattie Cordova- That is an excellent idea!! I added a journal to the cafe press shop! I’m ordering that too!

Hello there! I have an award for your fabulous blog at http://shrimpsaladcircus.blogspot.com! And now that I think about it, I don’t really ever talk about my blog outside my immediately family and the online community…?

I love the idea- blog your gifts. I really wish more people around me blog, but I only have one friend in the area who does. Lots use facebook, but nobody blogs. I love it, though- seeing the artwork, reading about peoples’ stories and challenges and pictures. Food for the soul.

My only suggestion would be to add some color- I just think it stands out more in color. My eyes glaze over black and white logos.

I love it Cathe!! I’m off to check it all out now!

What a cool idea. It is awkward when trying to explain to someone what a blog is and why you do it. I just tell them it is like your journal, only you are sharing it with the rest of the world.

I started my blog for my friends and family. They look at it once in a while, but not one of them has ever left a comment. Then the bloggers came along and I was hooked. I mention blogging here and there, but people I know aren’t really that interested. Well, except my son’s teacher who was a regular reader of my blog before we ever met and she actually recognized me!!

    Love your shop!

I hadn’t mentioned my blog to any local friends, most don’t blog around here. My daughter put my blog address on a flyer for our vintage winter show, and people locally started watching it. I kinda blush when people tell me they read my blog. I know they already know I’m an airhead, why would they want to read my airhead thoughts? For some reason it makes me shyer with people I already know, probably because at times I’m pretty transparent. I just blush and think of it as a compliment if they read it now. But I am just figuring out twitter, and I had that on my blog, but got shy again and took it off LOL. I’m only partially shy! Great post, something to think about, for sure!!

  16. #16 - Amy @ Living Locurto says:

Cute! I’m with you on the blog thing. People just don’t get it. That’s why I really like going to blog conferences and meeting other techy people. My husband hates my blogging too… so now I can’t even talk about it with him. I’m going to get one of your shirts just to annoy him even more!! ha!! I’m so bad:-)

You’ll have to let me know how Cafe Press is. I have a Zazzle shop and so far not too impressed with them. May have to switch over.

  17. #17 - Annie Pazoo says:

Cathe- I so know what you mean. (Although with your talent and your incredible blog, I’m truly surprise that you arent’ gabbing about it all the time!). The logo and tagline are the most WONDERFUL idea. Great inspiration to share ones gifts!

    this is so great.

  19. #19 - T.Allen-Mercado says:

Great idea, congrats on the Cafepress shop. I don’t have many real life interactions because of my sparkly disposition, but this is certainly a good idea to pounce on if I ever leave the cave again!

  20. #20 - sloeginfizz says:

I love this idea! And it's so interesting to read about how people feel about/talk about their blogs. I am one of those who never really talks about it, and turn a bit red when my boyfriend brings it up (he is my best promoter!). Blogs are such a great outlet for shy people, i think. Going to check out the shop now. (By the way, Cathe, I am convinced you never sleep!)

I never am disappointed when I come to catch up with your blog—I downloaded the labels–they are great!!!! thanks and I am using your blog image to introduce a couple of blogs just started this week by friends—thanks again!!!!!

  22. #22 - Jan Ely says:

Yes! I talk about my blog and just today I posted about where I get some of the ammunition behind my "gifts"–from my parents!

The first time I told my 80-somehthing year old dad about my blog he said "It sounds messy, but it sure looks like fun!"

I love blogging my talented non-blogging friends as my "guests" on my blog too, and they dig sharing online!
